Chris Sheehan

• Return to Gallery

Chris has lived in Maui, the Boston area as well as up-state New York and the United Kingdom. Over the years he has traveled through western Europe, French Polynesia and New Zealand.

The influences from all of these varied cultures are evident. Chris' work has been displayed in Maui, Boston, Philadelphia and New York. It was featured in the recent film, "Urbania" (filmed on location in New York City.)

Chris' style and technique are unique. During the past 5 years all of his work has been in mixed media collage, although his earlier works are in oil, and watercolor. Most of the works presented here are Giclée prints of mixed media collage. Although he has participated in many group shows in NYC, he resided for a number of years at The SubCulture Gallery on Broome Street. His works are currently in the collections of many Hollywood celebrities.

Since 1985 Chris has lived in the islands during the summer months. Thus, the influence of intense urban existence is balanced in his work with the calming sway of gentle Maui. From 1994 to 1998 The Kapalua Art School had a permanent exhibit of 5 of Chris' earlier oils of Maui landscapes. Chris' Celebrity Series may be seen at The Celebrity Gallery on Front Street in Lahaina. And his Hawaii Series may be seen at The One World Gallery (formerly The Madeline Michaels Gallery), also on Front Street in Lahaina, Maui.
